thinking of becoming an apprentice?
Master Builders is the heart of the building industry. We are here to help you become a quality apprentice or trainee. There has never been a better time to start or continue your apprenticeship or traineeship.
Course Overview
You can start your apprenticeship with just three simple steps.
Step 1 - Complete the two- week compulsory commencement training program.
You will:
- Learn basic carpentry skills
- Receive safety training
- Replicate onsite practical skills
- Earn 6 units of competency towards the CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry when you start your apprenticeship
You will also receive safety training in:
- Manual handling
- Work safely at heights
- Safe use of power tools.
Step 2 - Commence your apprenticeship with Master Builders
Once you successfully complete the 2-week commencement program, you will have the opportunity to commence a carpentry apprenticeship with Master Builders. If successful, you will be employed with Master Builders and placed with a Host employer to receive the on-the-job training aspect of your apprenticeship. During your 4-year apprenticeship contract you will attend the Master Builders Education Centre every 7-8 weeks for 2-4 days block training. Formal training will involve completing course assessment and practical units to achieve competency in all units of CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry.
Step 3 - Apply for Early Completion of your apprenticeship
There are two key parts to successfully completing your apprenticeship:
a) You must be deemed competent in all units of competency in the CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry qualification. These units of competency are delivered and assessed in your training course with Master Builders Education and Skills Development (RTOID 6163).
b) In the workplace your onsite supervisor must also confirm their observation of you competently performing tasks directly related to each unit of competency from your training. You must be able to demonstrate this on multiple occasions and over an extended period of time. Only on successful completion of these two key parts will you be issued your CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry qualification. When you have received your qualification, you can apply for Competency Based Completion. This may allow you to complete your accelerated apprenticeship earlier than the 4-year contract.
