The Master Builders Association is thrilled to share an incredible opportunity for current apprentices: the $1,000 Duke of Edinburgh Scholarship.
This scholarship is provided through the Australian Employment Network NSW & ACT and The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Australia, through it’s The Edge Foundation Grants and Scholarships program.
The scholarship honours the life and work of Judith Wright, renowned Australian poet, environmentalist, and advocate for Aboriginal Land Rights. Named a National Living Treasure in 1998, Judith’s legacy lives on through this scholarship, which supports young people striving to better themselves.
The proceeds of this scholarship are strictly for career development and must be used to purchase items related to your apprenticeship or traineeship, such as tools, car registration, workshops and other support.
Applications close 11:59 pm Friday, 8th August 2025. For more information, and to submit an application, visit the AEN NSW & ACT website linked here.

Tips for a Great Submission Video
A short 60-second video is part of the application process. This is your chance to show your passion, progress, and potential. Here’s some tips to make your video stand out:
- Be Yourself: Speak naturally, and let your enthusiasm come through. You don’t need to be a pro – just authentic.
- Tell Your Story: Explain why you started your apprenticeship and where you are hoping it takes you. Include how you would use the scholarship to help you make that a reality.
- Keep it Clear & Concise: Aim for around 60 seconds. Use a quiet space with good lighting and speak clearly.
- Be Confident: This is your journey, own it! Confidence goes a long way.
