Each year 1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental illness. Many people are not knowledgeable or confident to offer assistance.
Physical first aid is accepted and widespread in our community, however most do not cover mental health problems.
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches people the skills to help someone who they’re concerned about.
Mental Health First Aid is all about teaching a person the practical skills needed to more confidently assist a family member, friend or co-worker who might be developing a mental illness or who is experiencing a mental health crisis.
Mental Health First Aid courses teach people how to listen and respond and offer support to someone experiencing a mental health problem.
What’s more, people who complete are courses are able to actively reduce stigma in the community, by responding appropriately to myths and misunderstandings about mental illness.
Mental Health First Aid has a variety of courses and formats available to suit your needs. Whether you are an individual looking to complete a course, or if you are exploring how MHFA training can be delivered within your local community setting, we have a course for you.
