MBA Adult Apprenticeship Program

Master Builders Apprenticeship Services and Master Builders Education and Skills Development have developed a unique program for people over the age of 21 years to start an apprenticeship to become a trade qualified carpenter as part of an accelerated program.

This unique and innovative program contains 3 steps:

  1. Step 1 – Commencement Training (2-week Training Course)
  2. Step 2 – Commence carpentry apprenticeship with Master Builders Apprenticeship Service
  3. Step 3 – Apprentice Training – 24 months minimum

Commencement Training is a compulsory 2-week training program to establish basic carpentry skills, safety training as well replicating physical and practical hands on-site skills. The program will undertake units of competency within the carpentry trade qualification, manual handling, safe working at heights and power tool safety.

The next step is commencing the apprenticeship with employment with Master Builders Apprenticeship Service and placement with a Master Builders Training Employer.

During the apprenticeship, a Master Builders Adult Apprentice will attend Master Builders Education and Skills Development Centre every 7-8 weeks undertaking off-site block release training over 2-4 days, or as set by MBA Training. Off-site training will involve completing course assessment and practical units to achieve competency in all units of Certificate III Carpentry.

A Master Builders Adult Apprentice who has met the requirements for all units of competency within Certificate III Carpentry can apply for early completion of their apprenticeship contract under Competency Based Completion.

Each application for competency-based completion is reviewed in consultation with the Master Builders Training Employer, the Adult Apprentice and Master Builders Apprenticeship Service. If everyone agrees that the apprentice is suitably qualified and experienced, the apprentice can complete their apprenticeship contract.

Completion of the apprenticeship can be achieved within 2 1/2 years for the right candidate.

Our ideal candidate for this program will have building or construction experience, a strong passion and a willingness to work hard to achieve their goal of a carpentry trade qualification is essential. A white card (General Construction Induction Card) and the ability to commence an Australian Apprenticeship contract is essential.

Candidates are selected through a process of application review, aptitude testing, interview and reference checking.

Scheduled Adult Apprenticeship Commencement Training Program dates:

Monday 7 March 2022 – Friday 18 March 2022, 7.30 am – 3.30 pm (Open)

To apply for the program, you must complete a ‘Jobseeker Registration’ and follow the prompts to upload your resume (Step 4).

Once this process is completed and you meet the MBA’s criteria, an MBA representative will contact you regarding the Adult Apprenticeship Commencement Training Program.
